ASP Model ASP: a relevant and sustainable for the company
ASP: a relevant and sustainable for the company
The ASP model can be defined as a distribution model for application services, shared, available online and billed monthly, such as subscriptions. It may not apply to all computer problems, but some areas seem particularly relevant. Number of SMEs but also large enterprises, exploit solutions ASP customer relationship management, management of human resources.

A service-oriented model mutualized
Beyond the concept of application hosting, ASP solutions for the enterprise are opportunities for outsourcing services. They can focus on his heart craft minimizing IT infrastructure and operations and associated support. Originally designed to be installed in a host and used by multiple companies ( "one-to-many"), the ASP solutions offer a more flexible configuration and interface to be adjusted to the specificities of each. For such a service, whose performance is guaranteed by contract - Service Level Agreement (SLA) - with its supplier, the company carries the right to use in the form of subscription, usually monthly.

A model well suited to the requirements of predictability and agility of enterprises
A solution "classical" generally means investment, particularly for infrastructure hardware and software, and operating expenses for the implementation, maintenance, etc. .. Based on an external infrastructure, an ASP solution will result only in operating expenses: the initial configuration and training, and then repeatedly for using the service. Such a cost structure significantly improves the readability and financial predictability, and promotes control of the return on investment promised by the supplier.
It also allows the company to adjust its "consumption" of ASP services to its level of activity. The growth in the number of call center and is reflected by new activations access platform ASP customer relationship management, while reducing the activity involves a renegotiation to a lower contract service: in both cases, the lack of investment increases the agility of the company.

A solution accelerating value creation while reducing the risk ...
Compared to a "classic" ASP choice thus provides several benefits:

     *  Acceleration of the deployment because
, in essence, the hardware and software infrastructure of the ASP pre-existed the decision by the company to use it. Beyond saving time associated with the lack of infrastructure to establish access to the service through a simple browser allows rapid deployment in the organization, including among mobile users.

*Reduced cost structure as the monthly or annual payments to the ASP include charges of structures, including technology (network, equipment, systems and software) and human (administration, maintenance and support of the application) that bear a company 's pressing for solutions "classical".

      * Last regular and transparent provision of new features:
updates and patches regularly applied by the ASP features enrich and improve the quality of service without requiring installation of potentially "painful" to the company. Note however that the updates may require a major reconfiguration work, similar to that required by a non-ASP.

*Risk reduction implementation and exploitation. In effect, improving the readability and cost control as outlined above leads to lower financial risk for the company. Then, billing subscription allows to correlate the volume and pace to commit funds to the service. Finally, the technological risk is reduced by the transfer to the ASP for the operation of the production infrastructure, and the simultaneous use of it by other companies.

The relevance of the ASP model for the company relies on the financial and organizational alternative that offers a lower investment for a part of the duration and the outsourcing of application services. If this approach is not currently applicable to all computer problems, the growing maturity of enterprise computing will help accelerate the development of ASP solutions and enthusiasm of enterprises for this model.
